Incremental encoders show an accurate number of pulses per revolution by measuring the dimensions of the angle or distance passed. In addition, all encoders generate an index pulse, which produces the same index pulse as each rotation.

For each angle adjustment, the absolute encoder gives an absolute coded value, which can be directly used after power supply. The absolute value can omit the reference stroke required by the incremental encoder.
